The bar tender remarks, “Wow, how lucky!  Your owner must really value you Car.”

TeethThe Teeth chime in, “Yah?  My owner brushes me twice every day and flosses me on a Sunday afternoon.  Every 6 months I get to go to the dentist to get cleaned off AND if I get a cavity he fills it so it doesn’t get worse.”  A light sparkles off his enamel as he continues, “In return I chew up all the food, make it possible for him to speak and give him a wonderful smile.”

Whistling the bar tender says, “Yup, your owner sure knows the value of his Teeth.”

SpineLateralThe Spine says, “I provide the support pillar for the frame of my owner’s body, allowing him to stand up and move.  I protect the spinal cord which controls every function in the body by carrying the vital information from the brain to the body. ” The Spine sighs, “Unfortunately he’s so busy, even though I try to let him know he doesn’t realize I’m getting run down.”

Perplexed the Bartenders says, “Wow, hasn’t anyone ever told him the value of his own Spine?!?”

The Spine replies, “Alas, he’s never been told.”

Grey Line
Unfortunately this isn’t a joke, but reality.  Most people don’t realize how crucial their spine is for their overall health and quality of life until it’s too late.  We need to understand that:

  • Just like your car, the spine is a machine with moveable parts and it is subject to repetitive stresses we place on it as we move, sit and sleep.  As such it requires regular maintenance to keep it running efficiently and prevent it from breaking down.
  • We take care of the things we value.  Our car gives us mobility and independence.  Our teeth allow us to eat and communicate.  Our spine permits us to move and protects our spinal cord.
  • Chiropractic care is the only profession to focus primarily on the integrity of the spine.  It supports the mobility of the spine and facilitates better health through proper communication of the nerves.

“I wish I had of taken care of this earlier.”   In my 12 years of clinical practice I have heard this sentiment repeated over and over.  Don’t wait for your spine to wear out before you take care of it.  Please pass this on to anyone who doesn’t realize the value of their spine.
